Our Animals
At Bryngwawr Farm, we believe in raising our animals with care, respect, and the freedom to express their natural behaviours. Meet the animals that call our farm home.

Ducks
Our small flock of Muscovy ducks brings character and charm to the farm. Led by Sid the drake, named in honour of Sid Vicious, our ducks are free-ranging and enjoy the natural ponds and streams around the farm. Muscovy ducks are known for their gentle nature and excellent foraging abilities, making them perfect for our sustainable farming approach.

Chickens
We're proud to raise a beautiful mix of pure breed, pasture-raised birds that roam freely across our fields. Our flock includes Buff Orpingtons, known for their friendly temperament and beautiful golden feathers; Copper Marans, prized for their rich, dark brown eggs; Light Sussex, a classic British breed with excellent foraging skills; and Rhode Island Reds, reliable layers with a hardy nature. All our chickens enjoy a natural lifestyle, foraging for insects and plants while contributing to the health of our pastures.

Rabbits
Our pure breed New Zealand White rabbits are big, fluffy, and absolutely delightful. These gentle giants are known for their calm temperament and impressive size, making them wonderful additions to our farm family. Raised in spacious, natural environments, our rabbits enjoy plenty of room to hop, play, and express their natural behaviours. Their soft, white coats and friendly personalities make them a joy to care for.

Sheep
Our mixed flock of Devil's Bridge and Welsh Mountain ewes graze across the rolling hills of our Carmarthen farm. These hardy, native breeds are perfectly adapted to the Welsh climate and terrain. Devil's Bridge sheep, with their distinctive appearance, and Welsh Mountain ewes, known for their resilience and excellent mothering instincts, create a diverse and robust flock. They play a vital role in maintaining our pastures through natural grazing, contributing to the biodiversity of our farm ecosystem.

Pigs
Our pigs are a cross between Pietrain and Gloucester Old Spot breeds, combining the best qualities of both. These intelligent animals are kept year-round outside on pasture, where they can root, forage, and express their natural behaviours. The Pietrain heritage brings excellent meat quality, while the Gloucester Old Spot contributes hardiness and a gentle nature. Living outdoors in all seasons, our pigs enjoy wallowing in mud, exploring their paddocks, and basking in the sun - a truly natural life that results in exceptional quality meat.
